Coves de Gènova: a small Palma cave with a ‘fried egg’ and a ‘whale’s mouth’

A small cave in the Gènova neighbourhood, on the slopes of Na Burguesa, about 10 minutes from central Palma. It was discovered while digging a water cistern and has stalactites, stalagmites and formations nicknamed things like 'the fried egg' and 'the whale's mouth', which kids love hunting for. The visit takes around 20-25 minutes with an audio guide on your phone, without crowds, and it makes a good first cave for children who'd feel overwhelmed in the big east-coast ones. The downsides: it's small and a bit pricey for how long it lasts, and there are some high steps and sharp corners, so keep an eye on little ones.
