Retroway
Seasonal produce and garden tables.
View in the app · free, no sign-upIn a village with cooking as traditional as Santanyí’s, Retroway goes another way: it calls itself a flexitarian restaurant serving real food, local produce and fair trade, with no preservatives or added sugar, and a menu that can be served entirely gluten-free. The idea is that vegetarians, vegans, raw vegans, meat-eaters and coeliacs share the same table, and it pulls it off without anyone feeling they’re eating “diet food”. The most-ordered dish is the pad thai, followed by the risotto, beetroot ravioli, shiitake meatballs and the pea-protein burger, which wins over even non-vegans; for meat-eaters there’s a smash burger. Among the starters, courgette tartare and watermelon tataki salad, and for pudding the raw vegan matcha cake, made without cheese and a real surprise, or the brownie. The drinks are part of the appeal: homemade lemonades (try the coconut one), house iced tea, smoothies, fresh juices and organic soft drinks. The place, on Carrer de na Ravandella, has an inner terrace strung with lights and a small play corner, and the staff explain each dish and its allergens in detail.
