Rooftop El Llorenç

On top of the boutique hotel El Llorenç, on Plaça de Llorenç Villalonga, next to the city walls and facing the Parc de la Mar, there's a rooftop with a pool from which you see the cathedral and the Bay of Palma at the same time — something very few terraces in the centre can offer. It's adults only, from 16, and in season the food comes from Santi Taura's team, who also run his fine-dining restaurant on the hotel's ground floor, with the menu of his Urbà restaurant. It's creative cooking with Asian touches: crispy spicy salmon nigiri, lamb sirloin satay, octopus dumplings, scallops, a pinsa with burrata and a house tiramisu; if you'd rather not choose, the 'Go with the flow' menu sends seven surprise dishes to the whole table, six savoury and one sweet. The vermouth, white and rosso, is made in-house and is the best excuse to come up just for a drink. The space is small, around ten tables, and not all of them have a view; in high summer it gets hot. The pool and sun loungers are for hotel guests only. You go up by lift and then climb a dozen steep steps at the end.
