Independent theatre in a Gothic townhouse in Canamunt, with café tables
View in the app · free, no sign-upA small theatre inside a 14th–15th-century Gothic townhouse on a narrow street in Canamunt, with a listed arch and coats of arms in the courtyard. The house belonged to governor Olf de Pròixida, was home to the Republican Casino in the 1930s and then to the Catholic Workers' Circle, which already staged plays. Since 1989 it has belonged to the Estudi Zero Teatre cooperative, a Mallorcan company with 40 years and 65 productions behind it, which restored it and in 1992 helped found Spain's network of alternative theatres. It programmes contemporary theatre by island and visiting companies, mostly in Catalan, family shows at weekends, the autumn Mostra de Tardor and, in summer, flamenco with jazz on Wednesdays. The main room has red-clothed tables and bistro chairs, like a café-theatre.
