Burgou

On Carrer del Capità Vila, in the Pere Garau neighbourhood, Burgou has made a name for itself since 2024 with one idea done well: the smash burger. The patty is pressed onto the griddle so it crisps outside and stays juicy inside without dripping grease, and it comes in a brioche bun. The system is simple, and it's what people like most: pick your meat — beef, chicken or plant-based — and the size, then three toppings and one sauce, and if you're unsure the waiter will help you build it. If you'd rather not think, there are house combinations.

Of the sauces, the house Burgou sauce is a nod to a certain American chain's, and truffle mayo is the favourite on doubles with goat's cheese, egg or caramelised onion. The thin, crunchy sweet potato fries are close to compulsory; to start there are nachos and mozzarella sticks, and for pudding homemade cheesecake or lime pie. There are vegan burgers, gluten-free options and a section of the menu for children.

It's a neighbourhood place, quiet and unpretentious, with board games for anyone who'd rather not scroll and a screen for the big matches. Come for a cheap, casual dinner with kids or friends; if you're after a chef's burger made with dry-aged beef, this isn't it.
