It has been on Carrer de Can Escursac in central Palma for some seventy years, and it owes its reputation to the bar counter: a row of ready-made pintxos at a fixed price of around two and a half euros, which you pick up there and then, plus others on the menu made to order, along with tapas, larger portions and cocas. That's the best way to approach it: lots of small bites, trying everything without spending much. From the kitchen, the big sellers are sobrassada, with fried eggs and potatoes or on top of the bravas; the homemade bullit and ham croquettes, the mini burger, sirloin with onions, tumbet with egg and the cocas, the standout being escalivada with anchovies, plus Iberian ham on pan de cristal. To drink, well-poured beers, a vermouth with a following and a wine list longer than you'd expect from a bar like this; for dessert, if there's any left, cardenal de Lloseta. Tapas are small, so the bill climbs if you order them as if they were full portions. Inside there are two air-conditioned rooms, plus a terrace. It's packed every night, mostly with visitors, and handles the wait with a list at the door.
