Bar Molinar
Historic Mallorcan breakfast with sea views
View in the app · free, no sign-upOpposite the little Portixolet harbour, on the street that runs along the sea in El Molinar, this is one of the oldest bars in the neighbourhood and it doesn't hide it: a marble bar, wooden furniture and objects from another era that make the inside feel like a small museum, with rock and jazz playing and a dog that usually waits by the door. Outside, a small terrace looks over the harbour and the bay. It's a morning place. There's milky coffee, ensaïmadas and croissants, but what people order is pa amb oli and llonguets made with unsalted Mallorcan bread, as tradition demands, and island produce: ham and cheese, sobrassada, camaiot and, above all, cheese with anchovies, which is the one the house recommends. There's also coca de quart (a light sponge cake) and Mallorcan gins, and at midday a cold beer facing the sea. The welcome is warm and family-style, but there are few hands behind the bar: on public holidays, with the terrace full, expect to wait.
