Buena Cepa
Unpretentious Santa Catalina spot for honest, well-priced global wines.
View in the app · free, no sign-upA recent opening on Carrer de Joan Crespí, a step from Santa Catalina, it has become the go-to wine bar for a neighbourhood crowd in just a few months. They call it a "wine club", and that's the idea: a small, modern, warm room with a terrace, where the owners serve you themselves, ask what you like and pour accordingly, without jargon or a collector's wine list.
The selection isn't the usual Palma one. Rather than revolving around the island, it crosses three countries: Portugal, with a fresh, light Alvarinho vinho verde that is the summer glass; Argentina, where Malbec is the draw; and Spain. Everything comes by the glass, which makes comparing easy, and to go with it there are generous boards of good cheese and charcuterie and the odd tapa. If you don't want wine, there's vermouth and beer.
Every so often they hold tastings with a sommelier and other small events, and there's often a table celebrating a birthday. Come for a long, chatty glass before dinner or instead of it, not for a proper meal.
