Cala Blanca
Dog-friendly, sheltered cove perfect for snorkeling and calm swims.
View in the app · free, no sign-upThis Cala Blanca is the one in Andratx, between Camp de Mar and Port d'Andratx – not the one in Costa de la Calma. A tarmac lane ends at a small car park with room for only a few cars, and from there you walk down 150-200 metres on a steep path of earth and loose stone with no steps (there are two ways down, both eroded). At the bottom is an enclosed little cove of pebbles and gravel, no sand, which splits in two depending on the sea, with a pine or two for patchy shade and very clear water over rock, good for snorkelling and jumping off the rocks. What defines it is that it is one of the few beaches in Mallorca where dogs are allowed all year: there are nearly always dogs running, barking and swimming, and anyone coming without one should know that. There are no facilities at all – no bar, toilets, showers or tap. The recurring complaints: there are no buoys, so boats and jet skis anchor far too close to the shore; on some days seaweed stagnates and smells; litter collects in the corners because the access makes cleaning rare; and in summer it fills up fast. There is some topless sunbathing and the odd nudist. Come with a dog or for a quiet swim out of season; not for older people, pushchairs or a full day without a parasol.
