Ca'n Punyetes
Seafood tapas bar by the harbour in Port d’Alcúdia, always busy
View in the app · free, no sign-upIt takes up the ground floor of a building around 80 years old in the old part of Port d'Alcúdia, by the yacht club: in the 1950s it was the boatbuilding workshop of shipwright Pedro Bennàsar, then a barber's, a garage and a string of pubs, until Ca'n Punyetes appeared in the late 1980s. Since 1995 it has been run by Víctor and Paco, who have grown it into premises on both sides of a pedestrian street, with the terrace in between. They call their cooking simple, all made in-house, Mediterranean and Andalusian like their roots, and that's what sets it apart from the grills and pizzerias of the port. The house dish bridges the two traditions: cuttlefish stewed with sobrassada and honey. The Andalusian side shows in the fried fish and the marinated dogfish (cazón en adobo); the Mallorcan side in the pa amb oli. Everything comes as a full or half portion, and the half goes a long way, so the idea is to come as a group and share. It's one of the few places in the port where you hear as much Spanish at the tables as English or German.
