Es Pati Montuïri
Pla cuisine at sunset on a 16th-century Mallorcan finca
View in the app · free, no sign-upOn the road from Montuïri to Sant Joan, deep in the farmland of the Pla, the rural hotel Es Figueral Nou has a courtyard with a fountain in the middle, well-spaced tables and open views across the Pla towards the Tramuntana. That's where Es Pati serves dinner, part of chef Santi Taura's group, and his hand shows in a short, local and seasonal menu that starts from island dishes and takes them a step further: a bikini (toastie) of espinagada (the spinach and eel pie from Sa Pobla), pasta with salt cod, a skewer of rabbit and snails, or little meatballs with cuttlefish on pea cream. The dishes that come up most are the artichokes with citrus, the red prawn rice, the beef tartare and the braised shank. Alongside the à la carte there's a tasting menu of five to eight courses, depending on when you go, opening with a welcome cocktail, with wine pairing if you want it. Service is warm and careful about allergies and intolerances. What really defines the evening, though, is the setting: the sun going down over the fields, a piano in the background and a hush that makes people lower their voices. It's for couples and quiet celebrations; it isn't the place for a lively night out or small children, as it only admits over-12s. There can be long gaps between courses on the tasting menu.
