Surprise tasting menu with expertly paired wines in a communal setting.

SENSO has no menu, for food or for wine. What it has is one long table, five courses that change every two weeks and two people running the night: Luca, the founder, who welcomes you, picks the music and chooses every bottle, and chef Bogdan Mlokits, trained at the Institut Paul Bocuse and with time in Michelin-starred kitchens. The menu is a surprise: each dish is revealed as it arrives, in five ‘chapters’ with French names, from the awakening to the final sweetness, and there’s a vegetarian version if you ask ahead. The wine pairing is optional but it’s the heart of the place: five wines, many from Mallorcan grape varieties and small producers, and from elsewhere only when origin is the point (a Pinot Noir, from Burgundy), each one introduced at the table. Afterwards, the golden wall of bottles stays open for anyone who wants to keep going. The draw, and the filter, is the shared table: you eat elbow to elbow with strangers, and the conversation becomes part of the menu. It works very well for solo travellers, curious couples and wine lovers; less so for an intimate dinner for two or for anyone who wants to choose what they eat. The menu is €69 and the pairing €45. Dinner only, Tuesday to Saturday, on Carrer de Soler in Santa Catalina, where it moved from its first premises.
