Mallorca month by month

Mallorca in September

A sea still at 26 °C, fewer people as the month goes on and the grape harvest festival: September for those in the know.

In September, Palma has an average high of 28 °C and an average low of 20 °C, the sea is around 26 °C and it rains on about 9 days (averages 2016–2025).

September is the favourite month of those who know the island: the sea is nearly as warm as in August (around 26 °C), the heat eases off and, as the month goes on and schools go back, the coves empty out. The first days are still full summer; from the second half of the month everything gets calmer.

It is harvest time: Binissalem celebrates the Festa des Vermar, grape battle included, and it is a good time to visit wineries. Many towns hold fairs and fiestas, such as Vilafranca's or the Beata in Santa Margalida. September also starts the wettest months: storms arrive, sometimes strong ones, that usually do not last long. Have a plan for the afternoon just in case.
