Ca's Patró March

It’s the other table in Cala Deià, the one looking down on the cove from the rocks, with terraces stepping over the water, and the best known outside the island since it appeared in the series «The Night Manager». It’s a fishermen’s house turned family restaurant, and that’s why fish rules: you order the catch of the day, whole and by weight, with John Dory the star (also turbot, sea bass or castanyola, the local pomfret), and to start grilled squid, octopus or Sóller prawns. The other classic is lobster with fried eggs and potatoes. For dessert, almond gató or the dessert selection to share. The produce is fresh and well handled, but the bill is high: fish by weight adds up fast, and bread, water and wine are priced like what this is, a place in heavy demand. People who come know they’re mostly paying for the terrace, the cove below and the Tramuntana light. When it’s full, service is stretched and tables tight. The terrace is reached by some steep steps.
