682 m pass above the Sa Calobra hairpins and the tie-knot bridge

The 682 m pass where the Sa Calobra road (Ma-2141), after climbing about 2.5 km from the Ma-10, tips over the edge: from the rocks by the car park you watch the valley and the road's hairpins drop all the way to the sea. Just before it is the Nus de sa Corbata, the 'tie knot', a 270° spiral bridge where the road passes under itself. Antonio Parietti, who also built the Formentor road, designed it, and it opened around 1932–33, built almost entirely by hand with no tunnels. There's a small café with paid toilets.
