Sa Portassa
Mallorcan tapas and almond cake in the old town.
View in the app · free, no sign-upOn Carrer de Sant Vicenç, inside the old walls, Sa Portassa is small: a few tables on the street and an inner terrace that gives shade in August and has blankets for cool spring nights. It's one of the few places in the old town serving Mallorcan cooking as tapas at a fair price, which is why it fills up. The formula that made its name is the selection of six tapas of your choice with pa amb tomàquet for two, the best way to try tongue, rabbit, tumbet or frit mallorquí in one go. The croquetas, in several versions, have a following of their own, especially the oxtail ones. The other reason to come is the pa amb oli, big and generously topped, with four cheeses, pork loin and Roquefort, or cuttlefish. Staff advise and tend to stop you ordering too much, and for children there are half portions and colouring pencils. It's a first taste of island cooking without spending much; if you're after a sit-down main course, try a restaurant.
