An old estate between Valldemossa and Deià

An old estate between Valldemossa and Deià, above the cliffs of the Tramuntana coast, where Ramon Llull founded a school in 1276, backed by King Jaume II, so that Franciscan friars could learn Arabic. In 1872 Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria bought it, restored it and added it to his coastal estates. Today it's a small museum with a chapel, rooms devoted to Llull and to the Archduke, an old olive press (tafona), a cloister and a garden with sea views. It's far quieter than central Valldemossa, a few minutes away. The downsides: little remains of the medieval monastery, there's no café, and the entrance from the road is easy to miss.
