Mallorca month by month
Mallorca in March
The island wakes up: terraces reopen, the roads fill with cyclists and the countryside is at its greenest.
In March, Palma has an average high of 17 °C and an average low of 10 °C, the sea is around 15 °C and it rains on about 9 days (averages 2016–2025).
In March the island wakes up. Over the month, and especially ahead of Easter, hotels, beach bars and coastal restaurants reopen, although many shutters are still down. The countryside is green, the streams are flowing and it is one of the best months for walking. 1 March is Balearic Islands Day, a public holiday: many shops close.
It is peak cycling season: thousands of riders climb to Sa Calobra, Formentor and the Puig Major, so be patient if you drive the mountain roads. The weather changes a lot, with 20 °C days and rainy ones, and the sea is still cold. The clocks go forward on the last Sunday of March and sunsets move to after eight.
