Organic wines in a historic estate: elegance and respect for biodiversity.
View in the app · free, no sign-upIt's a possessió (country estate) in Algaida, in the Pla, with beautifully preserved old houses — on the tour they explain the estate goes back to 1511 — that now operates as a family winery and agroturismo. It isn't a wine bar in the usual sense: you come here for the guided visit, which takes in the houses, the vineyards and the cellar, tells the family's story and their effort to bring back traditional local grape varieties that had nearly disappeared, and ends with a tasting, usually four wines with four tapas of local produce. The wines are organic and aim for freshness: whites and light reds made for drinking in the heat, and a rosé from native varieties that is what most people remember on the way out. Groups are small — sometimes just two people — the explanations work for people who know nothing about wine, and with luck the winemaker is around the cellar to answer questions. At harvest time you can watch freshly picked grapes arrive. It's a calm mid-morning outing, for those who want to understand how wine is made in inland Mallorca rather than stop for a quick glass.
