Sa Costera

Wild coast from Ses Barques to Cala Tuent, past a spring and old power plant

The wildest coastal path in the Tramuntana, from the Mirador de ses Barques to Cala Tuent, hanging halfway up cliffs above a sea with no beaches or houses. You drop through Coll de Na Polla among pines and cliffs and, midway, reach the Font des Verger, one of the most abundant springs in the Balearics, beside the ruins of sa Fàbrica, the hydroelectric plant that ran from 1908 to 1962 and served Sóller. Since 2008 its water has been piped to Port de Sóller. The finish is Cala Tuent, a pebble cove with very clear water and Puig Major above. About three hours one way.
