At the far end of Port de Sóller, where Camí del Far begins and the beach gets quieter, Patiki is a beach shack of wood, wicker and bamboo shade with tables practically on the sand. They describe it as a home from home: you eat, drink, go down for a swim and wait for the Tramuntana to turn pink as the sun drops into the sea. The kitchen is open to view and the short menu changes every week depending on what their island farmers, fishermen and producers bring, so the menu online doesn't always match the day's. Some dishes keep coming back: sourdough toast with grated Mallorcan tomato and flaky salt, which plenty of people rank among the best things they ate; roasted Mallorcan peppers with beetroot hummus; burrata with melon and pickled mustard; the marinated aubergine, which staff present as the house star; and the fish of the day — sea bass or turbot — cooked in a charcoal oven. The pulled-chicken brioche comes in a bun from Forn de Barri and the prawns are from Sóller. The white chocolate dessert is enough for four. Drinks matter as much as the food: signature cocktails (a spicy margarita and spicy paloma with jalapeño-infused tequila or mezcal), rosé sangria and a wine list with natural and Mallorcan bottles. Some days there's a DJ. It's a place for a long lunch or a sunset, with restaurant prices rather than beach-bar ones, and they charge for water even when it's filtered.
