Es Port
Fresh seafood by the sea in Valldemossa, with authentic Mallorcan flavors.
View in the app · free, no sign-upAt the end of the road that drops from Valldemossa to the sea, five and a half kilometres of hairpin bends, lies Sa Marina, the Port de Valldemossa: a handful of fishermen's houses turned holiday homes, a pebble cove and, since 1969, Es Port, the restaurant that makes the drive worth it. It's family-run, with an indoor dining room done out in a nautical style and a big terrace facing the water, with the Tramuntana behind.
You come here for rice and fish. The seafood paella and the soupy rices are what goes out most, followed by grilled fish and shellfish: prawns, squid, octopus, mussels, bonito and, when there is some, lobster. It's straightforward produce-led cooking with no ambition beyond doing it well by the sea, and what people remember is the rice and the terrace.
It isn't somewhere you pass through: getting there means a narrow road where you sometimes have to reverse to a passing place to let another car by. That's exactly why lunch here feels like an outing, and it's worth giving it the whole afternoon, with a swim in the cove before or after.
